On the ground floor, you will find a pleasant living area with a fully equipped open-plan kitchen, as well as a small nook with a table for enjoying a coffee.

Opposite the living area, a bright conservatory houses a large table seating six—ideal for meals with family or friends.

There is also a toilet nearby.

The conservatory opens directly onto a private courtyard featuring a fig tree and an outdoor table for six, perfect for al fresco dining.

On the first floor, the house features a shower room with a sink and a separate toilet equipped with a washing machine.

You will also find a bedroom with a 160 × 200 cm bed and a walk-in closet, as well as a small children's room with bunk beds and storage space.

On the top floor, in the converted attic, lies a second bedroom with a 160 × 200 cm bed and a walk-in closet.

Things to know before your stay

This character-filled, historic townhouse—built from wood and stone—has been fully renovated to provide all the comforts needed for your stay while preserving its original charm.

Please note, however, that the house features rather steep staircases.

Access between the first and top floors involves a staircase with alternating-tread steps (often called "Japanese steps"), which require extra care when going up or down.

These stairs may not be suitable for young children, the elderly, or guests with limited mobility.

At certain times of the year, the fig tree in the private courtyard may give off a distinctive odor reminiscent of cat urine.

It is important to clarify that no cats live in the house; this scent comes naturally from the fig tree and may occur depending on the season and weather conditions.

We prefer to share these details with you openly so that you can enjoy your stay with complete peace of mind.

Access, parking, and getting around

As the house is located in the historic center of Amboise, access is via a small, narrow street typical of the town center.

You may need to reverse to exit the street, particularly if driving a larger vehicle.

We therefore advise you to drive slowly and cautiously.

Several parking options are available nearby.

Paid town-center parking lots are easily accessible on foot from the house.

Paid parking generally applies from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM and from 2:00 PM to 6:30 PM, except on Sundays and public holidays.

One hour of parking is free each day: simply enter your license plate number at the parking meter and confirm the session.

For longer periods of free parking, you can also use the following:

Parking des Tanneurs — free parking, a few hundred meters from the house.

Parking du Mail — free parking located along the Loire River, also a few hundred meters away.

Amboise is easily explored on foot or by bicycle.

The house's central location allows for quick access to shops, restaurants, the Royal Château, Clos Lucé, and the banks of the Loire.

The house is also accessible by train via the Amboise SNCF station, located on Rue Jules Ferry.

For travelers arriving by car, Amboise serves as an excellent starting point for visiting the Loire Valley châteaux, vineyards, and surrounding villages.

A car is recommended for excursions further afield, making it easy to visit sites such as Chenonceau, Chaumont-sur-Loire, Villandry, Azay-le-Rideau, and Chambord.

The Neighborhood

The house is ideally located in the heart of Amboise’s historic center, on a quiet street just steps away from the town’s shops, restaurants, and main attractions.

You can easily get around on foot: the Royal Château of Amboise is about a 5-minute walk away, while Clos Lucé—Leonardo da Vinci’s final home—can be reached in around ten minutes.

The banks of the Loire, historic streets, boutiques, and cafés are also right nearby.

For food lovers, there are several restaurants just steps from the house, including La Fourchette (located directly opposite at 9 Rue Malebranche) and Baalbeck (just a short distance away).

Other restaurants, cafés, and shops are within easy walking distance.
